Presented by Albany Sinfonia and Albany Entertainment Centre with Fremantle Symphony Orchestra, South West Philharmonic
Listed by conductors and musicians around the world as one of the greatest symphonies ever written, Gustav Mahler’s 2nd ‘Resurrection’ Symphony is a spectacular live experience for the listener.
Utilising massive orchestral forces of more than 100 musicians (both onstage and in an offstage orchestra), and a huge chorus of singers, the work explores the human condition, life, death, and the afterlife. It was one of Mahler's most popular and successful works during his lifetime, and continues to be a favourite of musicians and audiences around the world.
This performance is the culmination of months of work and collaboration between the Fremantle Symphony, WA’s two regional orchestras (Albany Sinfonia and Philharmonic South West), and singers from both the local Albany community and the Mandurah Choral Society.
Conducted on stage by Fremantle Symphony’s Artistic Director, and award-winning composer and conductor David Pye. Chorus preparation and offstage orchestra conducted by Neville Talbot.
