Carla Geneve & Crossbow

Influenced mainly by their Celtic roots, these four string virtuosos criss-cross the musical planet in their high-energy interpretations of different tunes and styles from around the world.

Crossbow introduces audiences to beautifully woven originals from guitarist Steve Scanlon, and dazzles them with the flashing fingers of upside-down fiddler Margaret Gunson and her prize protégé Mike Hyder, all held together by the mesmerising bass of Margaret Crossen.

Multiple award winning artist, Carla Geneve has enjoyed a stellar rise to fame since leaving her home town of Albany a few years ago. A Fairbridge Festival favourite and highly popular on the Perth music scene, her's is a classic story of a regional artist enjoying considerable success after departing the artistic cauldron of Albany.

Alongside local super-band Crossbow, the opening concert is now a showcase of all that is great about Albany and its capacity to produce outstanding musicians.

Thursday 21 June 2018

Tracey Barnett & Craig Sinclair

A standout artist at this year’s Fairbridge Festival, Tracey brings her blend of blues, roots, country and rock for the first time to Harbourside. A gritty guitar player and powerful singer, you can’t help being instantly absorbed by her infectious live shows.

Albany-based singer songwriter and member of the acclaimed Pepperjacks, Craig has spent a good part of the last year or so reimagining and refining his solo show. Warm and bluesy, soft and cruisy; Craig is a consummate musician and singer showcasing diverse guitar skills and poignant lyrical insights.

Rastatrix & New Roundabouts

Fusing ska and dub with jazz and funk, Rastatrix present audiences with an irresistible musical equation that can only conclude with one answer: DANCE! Hot off the Fairbridge Festival this Denmark band is stoked up and ready to bring a “reggaelution’ to town.

Country-beachy Denmark duo The New Roundabouts feature local favourites Cathy Fotios and Tony King. Laid back uke and guitar are the vehicle for a repertoire of classic covers, tasty original songs and even 90’s TV series themes that make you feel slightly awkward in a good way!

Thursday 5 July 2018

The Zagoria Trio (featuring Mark Cain) and Little Row of Housez

From Madagascar to South Africa, through Jerusalem to the Middle East the Zagoria Quartet is a tour de force of exotic rhythm and melody. Western Australia is lucky to have a pool of world musicians who continue to celebrate their musical roots and the Zagoria Quartet are one of the absolute finest examples.

Original, global folk from Margaret River, Little Row of Housez is a new trio featuring a broad range of instruments including fiddle, mandolin, guitar, cello and voice. Unorthodox song structures carry music that is edgy yet sweet to the mournful and festive.

Thursday 12 July 2018

Powderkeg & Andrew & Karen Winton

Following last year’s Harbourside where they played to the highest audience attendance ever during the concert series, Powderkeg return to dazzle audiences with their high-wire, no safety net approach to vintage swing, ragtime oddities, obscure prejazz gems and really bad Dad jokes!

Combining a flavoursome pot-pourri of Albany, Denmark, Perth and Hobart musicians, get ready to “swing”.

Lap-slide player and singer-songwriter Andrew Winton is well known to Great Southern audiences. So too is partner Karen Winton, a member of sublime acapella group Iris. This season they join us in duo mode for their 20th wedding anniversary show! “This gig will celebrate 20 years of marriage to the day, we thought we would celebrate here with friends…well, everything else in town was booked.” - Andrew. “Gee…how romantic.” - Karen.  Join us for fine harmonies, fine folk and blues and awkward marital banter.

Thursday 19 July 2018

David Scheel & Lelebirds

David Sheel is a world class concert pianist, entertainer, comedian and raconteur. Victor Borge meets Tom Lehrer in a witty and thoroughly entertaining ride that takes a hefty side-swipe at the icons of modern living such as junk food, supermarkets, computerized voice mail and politics.

The Lelebirds is a 12 piece ukulele who play a varied repertoire of songs covering blues, jazz, country and swing. The line-up includes rhythm and lead ukulele, bass, percussion and gorgeous vocal harmonies. The Lelebirds bring a sense of humour and fun to their performances, entertaining folks in and around the Great Southern at cafes and community events.

Los Car Keys and Gypsy Noire

This High-fiving fun crew from Denmark are the new kids on the block, albeit in well-worn bodies! They have a passion for African and South American music along with composing original songs that reflect infectious humour, vibrant and often improvised music.

Thursday 2 August 2018

Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse & James Turner

Gina and Guy are one of those rare acts which connect and capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences through the power of pure emotion and song. Evocative guitar arrangements, poignant stories, rare language and beautiful voice.

A local Albany GP, James has found himself writing an album of original songs over the past 12 months. Inspired by a new foray into local musical theatre and drawing on his love of folk and acapella music his songs speak of life, love and meaning.  James is delighted to be joined by his special friends Mollie Hare and Carmen Fasolo, adding their spine tingling vocals.
