Presented by Albany Chamber Orchestra
Albany Chamber Orchestra performs the World Premiere of Sebastian Harris’s Remembrance, a work written by a local composer specifically for a Great Southern audience. Remembrance is a captivating work that explores the idea of reflection, a theme which resonates strongly in this final year of the Anzac Centenary.
The remainder of the concert is an all-Australian fare with entertaining and accessible music from some of Australia’s greatest composers, including Peter Sculthorpe, Graeme Koehne, Elena Kats-Chernin and Percy Grainger. Joining AlCO will be talented emerging artists from the community and conductor Burhan Guner.
The commissioning of Remembrance and the staging of the Opus Australia concert has been funded by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions Program administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) Culture and the Arts (WA) in consultation with the Department of Regional Development.
