Presented by His Majesty's Theatre
Part of the 2018 Downstairs at The Maj season.
A glittery ode to queer men and their mums
After two sellout seasons Downstairs At The Maj, John O’Hara (Priscilla - Queen of the Desert, Wicked) returns in the world premiere of #VAL. Inspired by the incredible (and let’s be honest) fabulous men and women who fought the good fight in the recent marriage equality campaign, #Val explores the very specific, layered and precious relationship that queer men have with their mothers.
In an evening of hilariously honest, unconditionally loving and at times just plain awkward tales, John will sing (and possibly dance) his way over the rainbow as he weaves in and out of his own experiences with Val, who’s recent popularity has seen her claim her own hashtag. From Gershwin to Gaga, this inclusive celebration of joy, love and acceptance will leave you laughing, crying and grooving along to the ultimate mixtape of camp pop hits, impossibly cool classics and an outrageous power ballad or two.
Everyone’s welcome, just follow the trail of glitter…
