For tens of thousands of years, incredible technologies have been used by Nyoongar people across the South West. Learn, explore and celebrate some of these amazing innovations with local storyteller Derek Nannup.

In this Museum LAB you will learn about the diversity of tools and technologies used across the land, find out how to make natural resin glue, craft yourself a taap knife and hear stories of where this knowledge came from.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Mix and crush powdered resin from natural materials.
  • Use natural materials and fire to craft a traditional taap knife that you can take home.
  • Hear local storyteller Derek Nannup explain where these technologies originated from.
  • Explore a range of different tools from across the South West.
