AGWA celebrates free-thinkers, boundary-pushers and ground-breakers in the second half of 2018 through three contrasting exhibitions.
First up, is Sidney Nolan's rebel masterpiece series Ned Kelly. Themes of identity, individuality, a strong sense of place and vivid brushwork, have cemented this series of outlaw Ned Kelly in Australia’s psyche of national identity.
Following on from this iconic portrayal of rebel Kelly is spaced 3: north by southeast. This exhibition displays the resulting works developed by pathfinder artists from Nordic countries and Australia during their ventures into new landscapes and unfamiliar terrain.
Opening in September, Biomess is a radical experiment in live culture. Presented by contemporary WA collective SymbioticA, these are artists working on the cutting edge of living art.
