Presented by Ochre Contemporary Dance Company
3.3 portrays a successful Indigenous dancer thrown into a holding cell because of his skin colour.
He communicates his anger, frustration and people’s history via 100 steps drawn from a variety of world dance practices and described by words from Noongar language.
Ian Wilkes dances the feature role, choreographed and originally created by Indigenous dance legend Michael Leslie. Directed and lit by Mark Howett, with live music from David Milroy.
The work is invited to the Berlin Be-Bop Festival in 2019. In partnership with a mesmerising and powerful new dance work, Beyond, performed by Floeur Alder and choreographed by State Living Treasure Chrissie Parrott.
Another cross-culture evening of vivid dance theatre from Ochre Contemporary Dance Company.
