Presented by Pro-West Dance Company and Subilicious as part of FRINGE WORLD Festival 2022
Join Pro-West Dance Company as they explore through contemporary dance how the seven deadly sins are buried in modern society, and how they are ruining the world today.
In the beginning, we see people going about their regular daily lives. But, after introducing the seven, you are enticed into the realm of the deadly sins.
The first fatal sin we encounter is PRIDE. A mirror is a depiction of the addiction to self. Too much focus on ourselves leaves us blind to those around us.
We follow the journey with GREED, accumulating material wealth and ignoring spiritual realms. We will only see what we've got when it's too late, and it's all gone.
SLOTH is the next of the seven deadly sins: avoiding physical and spiritual work, in other words, laziness.
Next, we have GLUTTONY, the desire to consume more than we need. In MERCY, the consumption of alcohol is what takes over.
We next move on to LUST, an intense desire for pleasures of the body: to be physically enslaved to another.
Then we are struck by ENVY, the desire for other people's traits, status, abilities, or situations: anything will be done to satisfy the craving for this intense jealousy.
When a person chooses anger over love, they manifest the last of the seven sinning characteristics: WRATH. As the primate in us takes over, we suffer injuries and wounds.
Finally, we see again how easy it is for us to conceal our sins amongst the modern-day lifestyle. As a result, each sin slips back into their old habits of deception, lies, and desires.
